Kalonzo Musyoka Invites Alfred Mutua to Ukambani Leaders Meeting

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has convened a meeting of Ukambani leaders and invited his political nemesis, Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua.

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu is also among leaders expected to attend the meeting which will be held on Monday in Machakos.

Kalonzo invited the leaders from Ukambani to discuss and chart the way forward for the community.

The NASA co-principal leader invited all elected members of national and county assemblies, professionals, elders, business and religious leaders from Kitui, Machakos and Makueni to deliberate on the community’s stake in national politics.

Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama will host the meeting at Kiamba Primary School, Matungulu Constituency, in Machakos County, adjacent to his expansive Komarock Ranch.

According to the planners of the meeting, the agenda will focus on taking stock and reflecting on the Kamba community’s position in national politics and discussing the unity of all leaders in the region.

The hard-line stance by some Wiper MPs who declared they had had enough of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party attacks on Kalonzo pointed to the possible political consequences of today's meeting.

An MP who spoke to the Standard on condition of anonymity stated the meeting will make or break the relationship between Wiper and ODM, due to the continued chest thumping by the Raila Odinga-led party.

The legislator further maintained that Raila's allies had backstabbed the other NASA affiliate parties as far as their preferred presidential candidate is concerned.

Makueni MP Dan Maanzo, speaking at a separate event, welcomed the planned merger of NASA affiliate parties ANC and Ford-K, stating that Kalonzo stood to benefit.
