Farida Karoney's Former COO Position at Royal Media Services (RMS) Scrapped Off

Lands Cabinet Secretary (CS) Farida Karoney's former position at Royal Media Services' has been scrapped off.

CS Karoney, who was serving as the Chief Operating Officer (COO), left the media company after her appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The scrapping of the position is part of the recent drastic restructuring witnessed in the company that saw changes introduced in several senior positions.

In changes announced by Wachira Waruru, the Group's Managing Director, several renowned journalists who left NTV and KTN joined the company's management.

"On behalf of the Board and Management of the Royal Media Services Limited (RMS), I am pleased to announce new appointments and several internal management changes to strengthen our strategic vision and direction.

"The changes will enable us to position for long-term growth and bolster our position as market leader of Kenya’s broadcasting industry,” the statement read.

Some of the big names joining the company following the move include Joe Ageyo as the Editorial Director and Linus Kaikai who will be the Director Strategy and Innovation which saw the COO position scrapped off.

Others include Jamila Mohammed as the Managing Editor Swahili, Fred Afune (Director, Radio and Technical Services), and Michael Ngugi (Commercial Director).

Waruru also announced that Latifah Ngunjiri will be the new Production Director, Caroline Wanyama (Marketing Director) and Moses Karanja (Chief Engineer).

On Wednesday, sources indicated that CS Karoney had poached two senior editors Peter Opondo and Nixon Ng'ang'a from her former employer, RMS, - and awarded them senior positions at her ministry's headquarters at Arthi House.
