The National Police Service (NPS) on Friday announced that the police officer who was caught on camera assaulting a civilian has been identified.
Posting on their social media, NPS stated: "The Police officer captured on a video clip assaulting an individual has been positively identified and is being processed for disciplinary action."
NPS declared this without revealing the name of the officer, hours after a video of the man assaulting a civilian emerged on social media platforms sparking outrage from Kenyans.

The forces further exclaimed: "Our attention has been drawn to a video clip circulating in the social media of a Police officer allegedly assaulting an individual.
"We do not approve of it. We are reviewing the video clip to verify it’s authenticity and shall take stern action against the officer once proven," noted NPS.
Upon singling-out who the officer is, the NPS called on the individual who had been assaulted to report to police for a statement.
"We are calling upon the individual assaulted to present himself to the Nairobi Area Police Commander for statement recording to facilitate the officer's trial in a court of law," mentioned NPS in a tweet.
The incident, reported to have taken place along Londiani road off Likoni Rd, Industrial Area, shows the police officer stepping on the victim's neck.
The officer in the video is seen pointing a pistol at the man, while another one, wearing civilian clothes, is standing by with a police swagger stick in his hands.
