Kenyans.co.ke has exclusively learnt that officials of the Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford Kenya stand to lose their positions if a proposed merger of the 2 parties sails through.
ANC Secretary-General Barrack Muluka told this writer on Wednesday that he along with other officials were ready to step down to ensure the new outfit had a national outlook.
"The party fusion agenda is not hearsay. It is on...Officials begining with myself are ready to step down to ensure the new formation meets its objectives," he stated.
This comes as the leaders of the 2 parties; Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford-K), struggle to shake off the 'Luhya party' tag their proposed alliance has been met with.
Muluka maintained that while Western Kenya was indeed a stronghold of the 2 parties, the deal was a merger of visions and ideas and they would strive to ensure it represented a united Kenya.

"Ford Kenya is a national party with elected leaders outside Luhyaland, ANC also has elected leaders outside Luhyaland. We can't deny that it is a stronghold, all parties have stronghold.
"A merger is of the 2 as national parties, it would be a very foolish thing to form a Luhya party," he elucidated.
Mudavadi had earlier given an interview describing his plans in the wake of Wetangula's ugly fall-out with National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga.
“We aren’t advocating for a Luhya community party. That’s what the forces that want to keep the community in captivity will sell to you. It is a label fearful opponents are busy burying their heads under.
“We want to take advantage of the numerical strength of a unified party. The two parties have elected leaders spread throughout Kenya,” he stated.
