Anne Waiguru's Rift With Wangui Ngirici Widens After DP Ruto's Visit in Kirinyaga

Deputy President William Ruto's visit to Kirinyaga County has widened the rift between the County boss Anne Waiguru and the Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici.

In an event that turned chaotic on March 6, Ruto asked the Kirinyaga leaders and residents to allow Ms Waiguru to function holistically as the county boss and support her vision.

However, on Thursday Ms Waiguru blamed Ms Ngiciri for paying youth who heckled her during DP Ruto's tour in the county.

Waiguru told the police to arrest the youth and their financiers.

According to the former devolution Cabinet Secretary, time for politicking is over and it is time for elected leaders to deliver on their campaign pledges.

She further exclaimed: "I am battle-hardened at the national level, who doesn’t know that?"

Waiguru, who was flanked by more than ten MCAs and Senator Charles Kibiru, noted that wrangling would scare away investors and hurt the county's economy.

She urged all leaders in the county to work together to spur development, instead of fighting yet the next election is more than four years away.

“We finished the election last year. Let my opponents meet me on the ballot in 2022. I’m ready to face them when I seek re-election,’’ Waiguru stated.

However, Ms Ngiciri expressed that she is not to blame for Waiguru's woes and that the governor ought to stop the sideshows and fulfill her promises to the people.
