Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati and his other two remaining commissioners, Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu have allegedly asked to be paid the balance of their terms if they are to leave office.
According to the Star, one of the commissioners stated that although four of their colleagues had resigned, they will only leave office through a negotiated package.
"We have done nothing wrong and we are determined to go on with work, but if anyone wants us out, then we will ask to be paid for the remaining part of our terms," stated the commissioner.
According to reports, if the government bows to their demands, it will cost the taxpayer over Ksh220 million to send the three home.

The commissioners have been in office for 14 months since their appointment in January 2017, therefore, they have 58 months - four years and eight months - left of their fixed six-year term to go.
Chebukati, who earns Ksh1.4 million per month in salary and other allowances, is likely to go home with Ksh81.2 million, exclusive of gratuity and other benefits.
Whereas, the commissioners who earn a monthly salary of Ksh1.2 million will each pocket Ksh69.6 million besides other benefits.
However, the three commissioners, who resigned on Monday would not be compensated since their resignation was with immediate effect, they would therefore only be entitled to their gratuity.
Chebukati's predecessor, Issak Hassan's team negotiated their leave of office in 2016 when they were harshly receiving backlash from the Opposition.
Hassan's team were then sent home with a package of Ksh1.8 billion in compensation.
However, speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, IEBC Communications Manager Andrew Limo refuted the claims terming them as 'misguided information."
