Raphael Tuju Declines Creating Position for Raila Odinga

Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju on Thursday stated that the government has no intention of changing the structure of the Executive to create new positions.

Tuju was addressing reporters after meeting members of the Nyandarua Assembly and Executive Officers.

“There are those talking about the possibility of having a different Executive structure. But as far as we are concerned, and at this point in time, our focus is jobs, opportunities for our young people and prosperity for our people,” Tuju stated.

His sentiments came amid speculation since the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga on March 9, for the sake of unity and development.

Tuju stated the Jubilee leadership will not derail from the Big Four Action Plan on food security, affordable housing, manufacturing and universal healthcare.

He further stated that neither he nor any person in Jubilee needs to take part in debates about changing the structure of the Executive.

Speaking on the troubles at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the Secretary-General maintained that the law should be followed.

He further added that he did not have a personal opinion on whether the three remaining IEBC commissioners should resign.

"For the simple reason that I don’t know these guys. I know them only by name, not as individuals, so I cannot pass a value judgement that so and so should resign," Tuju stated.

“I have a lot of admiration for some of these people because they know what’s going to happen next week while I don’t even know what will happen tomorrow. Those who can actually talk about 2022 and predict exactly what will happen have certain gifts from God that I was not endowed with," he stated.
