Electricity Tokens to Be Unavailable Due to Maintenance - Kenya Power

Kenya Power Company has announced that customers will be unable to purchase prepaid electricity tokens from Tuesday, April 24 at 10.00 pm to Wednesday at 6.00 am.

In a statement sent out to newsrooms, Kenya Power stated that the disruption was meant to allow for a 'minor maintenance exercise' to enhance the services provided.

“To enhance our service delivery, we regularly undertake system maintenance. Following the recent improvements on our prepaid system, we have greatly enhanced the customer experience in purchase and delivery of prepaid tokens.

“While the timing has been planned to result in the least disruption, we regret any inconvenience that may be experienced by customers,” the company stated.

A notice also appeared in the day's newspapers informing electricity consumers of the planned disruption.

Consumers will be able to purchase tokens through mobile money platforms and in banking halls once the service is restored.

The exercise is meant to ensure users no longer face delays when purchasing tokens as had been recently witnessed.

A number of complaints on delays were recently shared on social media after which the company sent out messages to consumers apologizing for the inconvenience.

Customers heaved a sigh of relief when the service was fully restored on April 17.

"Dear customer, further to our earlier communication we wish to inform you that prepaid services have been fully restored. We apologize for the inconvenience caused," a text message that was sent out to consumers read.
