President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday lauded governors who had fully embraced devolution during his speech at the 2018 Devolution Conference.
The Head of State did not travel to Kakamega but, through a video link, he heaped praise on Mandera Governor Ali Roba, Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana and West Pokot boss Prof. John Lonyangapuo.
"Devolved governments are finding their feet and in so doing, also transforming lives of communities. Makueni under the leadership of governor Kivutha Kibwana has made good progress in rolling out its version of subsidised health care and in food processing too.
"In Mandera, child mortality has halved due to the county's investment in medical facilities. In Kapenguria we now have our first medical college in West Pokot County.

"We owe that success to the diligence of our people," remarked President Kenyatta.
He further urged all county government plans to be aligned to the national Kenya Vision 2030 blueprint, as much as they have their individual agendas.
"To deliver on the Big four agenda will be beneficial to all of you (governors) as individuals and to the people you represent.
"Kenyans expect no less than 100 percent food and nutrition security and we must deliver this by 2022 which is no minor responsibility," he added.
During his speech, President Kenyatta also directed the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender to avail space in Huduma centres for any county government that wishes to bring under one roof its systems for issuing business permits.
On health care, the Head of State promised that more doctors and nurses will be trained to ensure efficient service delivery in the health sector.
