Raila Odinga's 5 Demands Uhuru Fulfilled Before Harambee House Handshake

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has revealed that there were five demands that had to be fulfilled before he met with President Uhuru Kenyatta at Harambee House on March 9.

The former Prime Minister disclosed that a few of the president's handlers approached him in November 2017 shortly after President Kenyatta was sworn in.

Odinga further narrated that it was at that point that he accepted the invitation for talks and issued his requirements before the undertaking.

"I told them that dialogue could only be between the two of us, which they agreed," he revealed.

Speaking during a meet-the-people tour in Kakamega on Wednesday, Mr Odinga added that he insisted on a five-point agenda for the meeting.

According to the leader, the five items he demanded to discuss were election malpractices, corruption, tribalism, devolution and security.

He assured residents that the resolutions arrived at before the handshake were all "good for the NASA regions and the Opposition zones".

Responding to remarks made by former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, Odinga defended his move to meet with the president without his co-principals Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula.

"When a father goes out early in the morning to hunt, he does not need to tell his children that he is going to hunt. The children should ask him what he has brought home on his return. If Uhuru and I agreed to the changes, who are you to try to be an obstacle?" he alluded.

He added: "We could not afford to sit and wait for 2022 while our people continued to be left out of development. I was not ready to wait for the next election as my people suffered.
