Nelson Havi Launches Campaign for LSK Chairman Nairobi Branch

The advocate of the High Court Nelson Havi is vying for the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Chairmanship position in the Nairobi Branch.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mr Havi noted that in as much as he is still in the race, he is not certain how credible the polls will be.

According to the lawyer, the elections were to be conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) but Charles Kanjama advocated for an online polling system.

Havi, further stated that the digital system meant to be carried out by ICPAK is against the mode of elections the members of the institution intended to use for the polls.

"We had members of the institution deliberate and decide on the mode to be used in the elections. And the members approved the use of a manual system," Havi told Kenyans.co.ke.

"A majority of members and candidates prefer a manual election conducted by IEBC, a position recommended to the Branch by the National Council," he divulged.

The city advocate further stated that one of the members had already gone to court to challenge the ICPAK platform, the constitution of the elections committee and the declaration of certain candidates as elected unopposed.

He added that the ICPAK system does not have a way of identifying members voting biometrically nor does it have a way of analysing their photo ID.

Havi also expressed that during the MOCK elections only 513 members of the council participated as opposed to the registered 7,000 members, which according to him is an indication that the elections were not free and fair.

"I don’t know how many of us participated in the mock election on 25.4.2018, to test the credibility and efficiency of the process? I did not receive an alert email or voting token," the outspoken lawyer declared.

Additionally, he posted on his social media platforms asking for the support of his followers to ensure that he clinches the coveted position.

"Whatever the mode that will be used, I ask that you turn up in large numbers and vote for me as Chairman. Your Vote is your Voice," Havi urged his supporters.

Havi is battling for the position against lawyer Kanjama.
