Former CJ Willy Mutunga Criticises Ahmednasir Over His Comment on Uhuru-Raila Pact

Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has told off Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi's comment that insinuated ODM party leader Raila Odinga is "more lethal after agreeing to the handshake" and Kenyans should be wary of him.

On his Twitter page, Ahmednasir had exclaimed: " Hon Raila is most lethal when he agrees to play second fiddle. The handshake gave him that priceless position."

Responding to the lawyer's comment, Mutunga noted that the comments are inciting Kenyans and therefore urged them to think beyond the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Opposition leader.

The former President of the Supreme Court of Kenya (SCOK) expressed: "Thought provoking! Your comments incite and excite us about the handshake...a distraction. Let’s think beyond the handshake."

"And about alternative leadership in Kenya, itis an issue your generation must prioritise," Mutunga added following the City lawyer's comment on the how Kenya's leadership hierarchy has never changed since independence.

"The ethnopolitical stratification/hierarchy of Kenya hasn't changed since 1963. And the handshake btw HE Uhuru and Hon Raila merely confirmed it. It has always been as follows: 1. Kikuyu 2. Luo (when loyal to 1) 3. Other Kenyans 4. Luo(when disloyal to 1. 5. Somalis,)" Ahmednasir had noted.

The senior counsel was warning the Head of State against Mr Odinga.

He was concurring with a section of leaders who have in the recent weeks advised the President to be wary of the NASA principal.

This came after Uhuru emphasised that the handshake was not political and was aimed at uniting the nation.

Speaking during the late veteran politician Kenneth Matiba's funeral at Ihuru Stadium in Murang'a, the President noted that he was aware that there are many leaders who were against the handshake but they would not relent on their resolve.
