Ahmednasir Warns Uhuru After Matiba's Funeral

Prominent Nairobi lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Friday warned President Uhuru Kenyatta that the handshake had placed NASA leader Raila Odinga at a better place politically and the government should be wary.

Several leaders in the Jubilee Party have in recent weeks cast a studious eye on Odinga, saying the President should be wary and Ahmednasir concurs with them.

"Hon Raila is most LETHAL when he agrees to play second fiddle. The handshake gave him that priceless position," wrote the senior counsel on his twitter handle.

This comes after the President emphasised that the handshake was not political and was aimed at uniting the nation.

Speaking during the late Kenneth Matiba's funeral in Murang'a, the President noted that he was aware that many leaders were against the handshake but they would not relent on their stand.

“We cannot continue differing at the expense of our country, and I know there are many who were not happy when we came together because they thrive on commotion.

“We cannot let politics direct how we interact with each other. We have to change that narrative and come together for the common good of this country,” he added.

The President also appeared to comment on the recently proposed changes to the constitution including the creation of a Prime Minister's post, saying the country should focus on more important matters.

"Constitutional change is not an answer to all our issues. We should focus on development and less on politics. Let us focus on what matters to our people.

"We are concerned about the health of our people, the infrastructure, their security and most importantly about the future of our young people.

"We cannot put our politics before the plans of God. We have to come together so that we can move forward," he remarked.

During his speech, Odinga had also stated that they agreed to put their differences aside because the country needs to move forward long after they are gone.
