4 Passengers Shot Dead After Ambush on Vehicle in Kapedo

Four people including were on Thursday shot dead by armed bandits in Kapedo after an ambush.

The four were said to be traveling from Kapedo to Marigat in Baringo County.

Other sources claim that some of the ambushed passengers were students who were traveling back to school for the second term.

Reports indicate that several other people are missing following the bandit attack in Kapedo allegedly a short distance from the Chesetet Military Camp.

The dead are said to be two girls, a boy and the driver of the ill-fated landcruiser.

Security personnel has been deployed to the area to pursue the killers.

Hours after the attack, the residents of Marigat took to the streets demanding an immediate action from the government.

The attackers are suspected to be armed Pokot bandits who have conducted other surprise attacks in the past.

Kapedo came into the limelight after 21 police officers were massacred in November 2014 with neighboring Suguta Valley dubbed "the valley of death" and Baragoi having witnessed similar incidents.

The security situation in Kapedo has been volatile over the years with rising wave of insecurity at border point between Baringo County and Turkana.
