The fire outbreak at Sarit Centre was reported to have been growing as those present at the scene witnessed the fumes growing darker and more overwhelming.

The Nairobi Fire Department firefighters present at the scene also halted their operations after the fire engines ran out of water.

Business owners at the mall evacuated their employees as some conveyed suspicions of foul play.
