DP Ruto Gives Details of Grisly Accident His Son Survived

Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday night revealed how one of his sons, whom he did not name, survived a grisly road accident along the Southern Bypass.

Ruto indicated that the accident happened at the exact spot where the son of Royal Media Services Chairman SK Macharia perished last week after being involved in a collision.

Condoling with Macharia's family, the DP stated: “The death of John Macharia has made me learn a big lesson."

"When my son had an accident at the same spot, I was very mad at him and questioned why he was driving during late hours.

"However, he narrowly escaped death but John did not,” he told the mourners.

The DP further urged the youth to drive carefully along the route with the stretch notoriously known for accidents.

He was speaking at the invite-only burial event at SK Macharia’s rural home in Ndakaini village, Gatanga Constituency

NASA leader Raila Odinga was among the prominent leaders that travelled to Murang’a County to mourn with the Macharias.

The late son of the media mogul was cremated on Tuesday at the Lang’ata Crematorium in a private affair attended exclusively by his family and close friends.

Police sources indicated that the Porsche 911 that John, a director at Directline Assurance Company, was driving collided with a Land Cruiser and he was pronounced dead at Karen Hospital.
