Orengo Witnesses Assenting of Bills at State House

Siaya Senator James Orengo was on Friday pictured at State House as President Uhuru Kenyatta assented to three bills.

The Senator was in the company of Majority Leader Aden Duale, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and AG Paul Kihara.

Also present was DP William Ruto as the President assented to the Equalization Fund Bill in which 14 marginalized counties will share Sh11.98 billion for development.

It has been a while since Orengo was pictured at State House especially due to his loyalty to the opposition and NASA leader Raila Odinga.

The Senior Counsel was among those who were against President Kenyatta's re-election but has since softened his stance after the Uhuru-Odinga handshake.

Rarely had he been seen at the House on the Hill and this might prove that indeed there is progress after the handshake.

During the State of the Nation address on Wednesday, the President affirmed that it was time for Kenyans to apologize to each other for the division caused by the 2017 Presidential Election before asking them to come together.

He appeared pleasantly surprised when lawmakers in the house immediately started shaking hands, with Babu and another MP walking up to him to shake his.

"Neither peace nor unity is given, we must work for them. I say so because I believe last year taught me that if we don't put an end to unrestrained political competition, it will put an end to Kenya," he stated.

"Let us each apologize for our words and for the anger and malice... from Lodwar to Lunga Lunga, let us shake hands and embrace our neighbours," the President continued.
