Chief Justice David Maraga has sounded a warning to all State Counsel who are attached to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) due to the few numbers of convictions made in matters of corruption.

The CJ indicated that going forward, the lawyers will be expected to deliver substantial and conclusive cases in court in a bid to deliver justice to the citizens.

He further assured Kenyans that under his leadership as the President of the Supreme Court of Kenya, the Judiciary will not relent in the fight against corruption.

In this regard, the CJ expressed confidence that he will continue to work closely with President Uhuru Kenyatta in ensuring justice is served without compromise.

"If we get any problems or political interference we will tell the President and I am sure he will deal with it," Maraga noted.

Speaking during a five-day stakeholders’ workshop organized in conjunction with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission in Nanyuki, Maraga further warned officers from the EACC that laxity will no longer be tolerated.

The officials will only be allowed two or three adjournments at most on cases before the courts, beyond this, the cases will be thrown out.

This is in a bid to clear a backlog of pending cases that date back to 2009 as a result of numerous of adjournments by the EACC officials.

"These games of musical chairs must stop; Wanjiku is not interested in who is doing what, Wanjiku is interested in justice!" he warned.
