President Uhuru Should Disband Nairobi County - Ahmednasir Abdullahi

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Thursday called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to disband the Nairobi County government.

In a post on his Twitter account, the Senior Counsel noted that the City's county government is functionally dead and the situation was likely to cause a national disaster.

Ahmednasir maintained: "The County Government of Nairobi is functionally dead. It is a national disaster. It will only get worse."

The lawyer further added: "I petition HE Uhuru Kenyatta to exercise his constitutional prerogative and disband the county government and for the national government to take over all services/functions."

His comments come barely a day after UN trade chief Dr Mukhisa Kituyi stated that governor Mike Sonko was not the best pick to run the capital.

The former Trade minister reprimanded Nairobians for crying foul about the city’s current situation and yet they voted for Sonko in big numbers.

“You listen to Nairobi people you wouldn’t believe these are the people who voted for Sonko. Where were they during the elections? They were in polling booths,” the UNCTAD boss stated.

He made the remarks on Wednesday where he stated that he preferred former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth for Nairobi governor but blamed Kenyans’ political irrationality for the mess in the capital.

Dr Kituyi questioned Nairobians’ political choices in the August 8, 2017 polls.

“Did we hate Kidero because he was a Luo or because he was a bad governor? Have we found solutions to answer Kidero’s weakness?” the UNCTAD secretary general questioned.
