President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday advised Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to hire young people to help him in the cleaning of the city.
Speaking during his address at the National Tree Planting Day at Moi Forces Academy, the Head of State noted: "Instead of spending over Shs.700m contracting companies to clean up Nairobi, I have asked Governor Mike Sonko to hire the young people of Nairobi to do the job.
"Let the money go into the pockets of the youth since contractors have failed and only want to pocket county cash," Uhuru added.

The President tasked the Governor to ensure Nairobi residents live in a clean environment.
His advice followed a public outcry among residents who have been complaining about bad roads and garbage in the town.
Uhuru added that the city ought to be a place where all Kenyans admire and appreciate.
"This garbage menace has to end so that Kenyans can live in a clean environment. It is not a tough job," the Commander-in-chief exclaimed.
The president told the governor to live by his promise that his terms in office will not end until the garbage problem is solved.
Last week, Sonko warned Nairobi county executives that they will lose their jobs if they don't deliver.
Sonko said this at City Hall when he flagged off equipment for cleaning and unblocking drainage.
Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris applauded the President for the advice declaring that he would support the Governor when he stars the initiative.
"Mr. President I want to prove to you how sound this advice is if put into action and offer my office to aid in the implementation," Ms Passaris announced.
