Armed Bandits Kill 2 Police Reservists in Kapedo

Four mourners were on Sunday shot trying to bury two police reservists who were among three people killed during a surprise attack in Kapedo.

The officers were ambushed earlier in the day when they were guarding a church in Turkana East.

Confirming the incident, Turkana East Sub-County Commissioner Joseph Duluti stated that the bandits stole firearms from the officers.

One other reservist is nursing gunshot injuries in the attack which authorities claim was a retaliatory attack.

Since Kapedo has no facilities to preserve bodies, residents decided to bury the three on the same day.

In the process, they were attacked again with four mourners nursing gunshot wounds at Kapedo Health Centre.

Earlier in the month, four people were killed in an ambush in the area.

The four; three students of Kapedo High School and the driver of the car were travelling from Kapedo to Marigat in Baringo County.

The security situation in Kapedo has been volatile over the years with rising wave of insecurity at border point between Baringo and Turkana.

Earlier on Thursday, Turkana leaders demanded the removal of Interior CS Fred Matiang'i from the security docket over the frequent killings in Kapedo.
