An unnamed Kenyan police officer on Monday night shot his girlfriend dead in Ruai, Nairobi County.
The administration police officer is said to have followed the lady to an M-Pesa shop where she had been working before shooting her three times in the stomach.
The woman reportedly passed away on the spot.
The police officer then turned his AK-47 rifle on himself in a bid to take his own life but only shot himself in the mouth.
He was found lying on the ground bleeding after taking the shot.

Kayole Police Boss Joseph Gichangi confirmed that the officer had been rushed to hospital
He promised that investigations would be carried out to establish exactly what triggered the shooting.
It is expected that, once he recovers, the police officer will be charged in court with murder and attempted suicide.
His colleagues confirmed that the officer was on duty on the fateful day.
He currently remains admitted at a city hospital.
