Mutahi Ngunyi Reveals President Uhuru Was Behind Miguna Miguna's Nomination

Political analyst Prof Mutahi Ngunyi on Sunday opined that the decision to nominate Miguna Miguna as Nairobi's Deputy Governor was made by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In his weekly show the Fifth Estate, the professor and his team from Fort Hall School of Government stated that the president suggested to Mike Sonko to nominate the self-styled National Resistance Movement (NRM) general.

"The Miguna nomination has President Uhuru written all over it. It all started in Solai last week, Sonko and Uhuru flew in the same helicopter to and from the function and then mysteriously, that same evening, Sonko nominated Miguna to be his deputy," the team explained.

The analysts stated that by giving Miguna the position, he was set on his way to inheriting Raila as the leader of the Luo nation.

"The project is the Raila succession, and Miguna is the lucky vehicle engineered to inherit Raila. Making him deputy governor is a stepping stone to creating him as the new leader of the Luo Nation," they conveyed.

The analysts further divulged that if Dr Miguna's name were to be presented to the county assembly for approval, he would sail through.

"ODM MCAs who are 40 percent of the House would have no problem voting for Miguna while Jubilee's votes would be split their 60 percent with half opposing the appointment. With the other half and together with ODM's 40 percent, Miguna's nomination would be approved with a two-thirds majority," the team added.

Prof Ngunyi stated that Dr Miguna should accept the offer to deputize Sonko.

"Change happens when there is a unity of opposites. In fact, a team of rivals accomplishes more than a team of friends.

"Even though people look at Sonko as a joke, his nomination of Miguna shows that he is capable of being the bigger man. It is now up to Miguna to inherit Raila by embracing him not by heckling him. The nomination is Miguna's path to succeeding Raila," he elucidated.
