The dormitory fire was the second incident in the school in a span of seven days.

Confirming the latest fire, County police commander Muchangi Kioi stated that there were no casualties as the students were not in the dormitory at the time it broke out.

He divulged that investigations were underway though the cause of the fire was still unknown.

The school board chairman Mr Masjid Basheikh who is also the local chief estimated that the property destroyed in the fire amount to nearly Ksh2 Million.

The earlier incident occurred on May 10 where five students were injured as they rushed to the dormitory to salvage their belongings.

At the time, Basheikh disclosed that suspicion that the fire might have been caused by some of the students was unfounded.

“We have launched investigations as the school board but as for me, I have ruled out the suspicion that the fire might have been started by our students,” he assured.
