NTSA Issue Warning Over New Smart Driving License

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has sounded a warning concerning the new Smart Driving License over individuals who are conning unsuspecting Kenyans under the authority's name.

A statement issued on Saturday, read in part: the authority wishes to inform members of the public that NTSA does not transact its services through any individual and Mr Nishal is unknown to the Authority."

The authority revealed that the alleged impostor has been operating under mobile number 0722795103 and 0786883500.

"He (Nishal) is not authorized to transact on behalf of NTSA. We urge members of the public to report such persons to the Police or to the nearest NTSA offices."

Members of the public are also advised that the Authority issues Smart Driving Licenses (for lost or defaced Driving Licence).

NTSA further elaborated that for those seeking to replace a lost or defaced Driving License can do so by opening a free TIMS account on www.ntsa.go.ke and provided is correct information.

Besides, NTSA has advised those planning to apply for the Smart Driving License and personalization process to visit their offices at MVI Likoni Road (Nairobi), Nakuru, Mombasa (Imara Building), Kisumu, Kisii, Machakos, Eldoret, Thika and Nyeri NTSA offices.

"During the application process, the system will generate an invoice of Ksh 3,050. All payments shall be made online. 

"NTSA does not accept any cash payments. The validity period for the Smart Driving License will be three (3) years.

The authority further clarified that on completion of the application process, one will be advised when to collect their Smart Driving Licence.

NTSA further advised against disclosing personal details to any third party asking those who may face challenges in the application process to contact the nearest NTSA office for assistance or contact them through their NTSA App.
