Drama as Kirinyaga Women's Representative Purity Ngirici Breaks Into Children's Home

There was drama in Kirinyaga on Sunday after area Woman Representative Purity Ngirici's supporters broke into a children's home.

Ngirici had visited the home to present gifts to the children but was initially denied entry.

Last week the legislator had visited the children’s home as her son celebrated his 14th birthday, and promised to bring gifts to the children this Sunday.

However, on arriving at the children's home on Sunday, she was locked outside the gate sparking a standoff with the management.

A video capturing the incident showed one of the supporters breaking the padlock at the gate using a hammer before the legislator’s team gained entry into the premises.

Confirming the incident, Gichugu OCPD Hussein Hassan maintained that the management at first had declined to receive the gifts but the woman-rep remained put and refused to leave with the items.

The management of the children's home later accepted the gifts and Ngirici left for a church service in the area.

Supporters of the woman rep alleged that the institution's management had been instructed by the local leadership not to allow Ngirici into the premises.

Ngirici had brought the children 180 pairs of shoes and 180 mattresses among other goods.

The Kirinyaga Women-rep is noted to have a frosty relationship with the county's governor Anne Waiguru, after she called for the arrest of Ngiciri and her husband for allegedly ‘hiring goons’ to heckle her at a function presided over by Deputy President William Ruto in Kerugoya.
