Six people were killed and nine others seriously injured in an accident along the Meru-Mikinduri road on Monday night.
The collision involved a pick-up and a Probox at Giaki junction.
According to reports, the Toyota Hilux pick-up, which was heading towards Meru, attempted to overtake a lorry but collided head-on with the Probox that was coming from the opposite direction.
The Probox had 13 passengers and six of them, including the driver, died.

The injured were rushed to Meru Level Five hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
Bodies of the deceased were also taken to the same hospital and the two extensively damaged vehicles were towed to Meru Police Station.
This comes just three days after seven people were killed in another road accident involving a Nissan matatu and a cane tractor at Maliki along the Kitale-Bungoma road.
According to eyewitnesses, the matatu heading to Bungoma tried to overtake another vehicle but collided with the Kitale-bound tractor owned by West Kenya Sugar Company.
A fortnight ago, 14 people lost their lives in a similar accident around the same area.
Recently, the National Transport Safety Authority noted that the number of road fatalities had gone down in the past five months.

The agency's deputy director in charge of safety Duncan Kibogong stated that the decrease was recorded between January 1 and May 14.
However, the surge in accidents over the past few days has raised concern among stakeholders involved in matters of road safety.
