3 Children Die In An Explosion

Three children died in an explosion on Tuesday in Kapedo, Baringo County.

The three children were reportedly grazing cattle when they spotted a device and started playing with it.

The device went off, killing them instantly.

The device is suspected to have been left behind by police officers during an operation in Kapedo.

Confirming the incident, Baringo County Police Commandant Peter Ndugu said he learnt about the incident late in the evening and called upon members of the public to exercise caution when they come across such devices.

The bodies of the children have been taken to Kabarnet District Hospital mortuary.

Another massive 120mm-long undetonated bomb was also found a few kilometres from the scene.

The bomb was, however, detonated by a bomb expert.

This is the latest casualty incident caused by abandoned explosives.

In early August, 13-year-old girl died and another was injured, in Isiolo, after a metallic object they were playing with exploded.
