3 Men Killed on Open Ground

Bodies of three men were discovered on Tuesday in Tagwa, Nyeri County, lying next to one another with bullets in their heads.

The scene was filled with blood spurts and seven spent bullets which according to the police, indicated that the deceased were shot at that spot.

Kieni OCPD Michael Mbaluku, said preliminary investigations showed that the men were brought to the location specifically to be killed.

Attempts to identify the victims proved futile since the bodies did not have any form of identification on them.

Police further stated that a burning motorcycle was discovered on Monday near Chaka Township, which they suspect of having a connection to the heinous crime.

The bodies were discovered by a woman who was going to fetch firewood alongside her son and three other neighbours.

"As we approached the scene, we spotted three men who appeared to be sleeping in the open ground, and what came to our minds was that they were drunkards. We advanced and discovered the scene was full of blood, and we also discovered a used bullet," said Nancy Wangare.

The women are said to have informed the village chief and police who later reported to the scene.

The bodies of the men, whom the police said struggled with their assailants before their untimely death, were taken to Nyeri Provincial General Hospital mortuary as investigations continue.

In April this year, five bodies were found a kilometre away from the scene of today's discovery.
