President Uhuru Interacts With Residents at Nanyuki Town

Days after President Uhuru Kenyatta's 'Kutangatanga' comment about Deputy President William Ruto, the Head of State was spotted in Nyanyuki town where he interacted with residents en route to Turkana county.

Earlier in the week, the president's comment caused a stir among Kenyans having stated: "Hii kijana anaitwa Ruto kila wikendi anatangatanga kila pahali. Atakuwa anapitia hizi machorochoro. Mkiona kuna kitu inaenda konakona mmwambie" which loosely translates to: "This young man called Ruto moves around every weekend traversing the country. He will be passing through these roads. If you see something is not being done right you should tell him."

Many took the statement to mean that the Jubilee duo was falling apart and the President was slyly throwing a jab at his deputy.

However, on Saturday, DP Ruto responded to the claims disclosing that he was reporting his findings to the Head of State following his (Uhuru) instruction to have the DP inform him of the things affecting Kenyans.

Following Uhuru's stop over at Nanyuki on Sunday, Kenyans were quick to notice that the President had boarded the #TangaTanga bandwagon going to the grassroots to interact with common mwananchi.

"Tanga Tanga weekend, great job Mr President," one Kenyan noted.

Later on, he headed to Turkana where he flagged off trucks loaded with crude oil from Ngamia 8, in the Turkana oil fields as part of the Early Oil Pilot Scheme.

"This flag-off event and the anticipated implementation of the Early Oil Pilot (EOP) Scheme marks the beginning of a long and fruitful journey," Uhuru stated.

The President, who was accompanied by the Deputy President, added that what Kenya stands to gain from the production and exportation of petroleum products cannot be understated.

He explained that the production of petroleum products would strengthen the existing economic and commercial partnerships and enhance the opportunities for growth and investments within the country.

"My Government will, therefore, focus on the development of our oil and gas sectors for the betterment of the economy and people," the President conveyed.
