Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui Wants EACC to Investigate His Administration

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has called on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to carry out an investigation into his administration.

According to the County boss, there could be misappropriation of funds in his government and therefore he wants the EACC to unearth anyacts of corruption .

"Development can only be achieved if we make good use of public money. Any corrupt county officer should know his or her days are numbered," Mr Kinyanjui noted.

Speaking while in his county, Kinyanjui  urged locals to report any corruption involving county workers to his office.

His sentiments come in the wake of the country facing several corruption scandals.

During his Madaraka Day speech, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that all heads of procurement and accounts in government ministries will undergo polygraph testing in the ongoing corruption investigations.

President stated: "Let me now mention one part of the raft of measures we intend to implement to tackle corruption. As an initial step, all heads of procurement and accounts in government ministries, departments, agencies, and institutions will undergo fresh vetting including a polygraph testing to determine the integrity and suitability of the officials.

"Those who shall fail the vetting will immediately be suspended from office," he added.

The EACC together with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) have been working to see to it that all the suspects of the unearthed scandals are brought to book.

Suspects in the Ksh9billion National Youth Service (NYS) scandal were last week arrested and arraigned in court following their alleged involvement in the scam.
