Former President Mwai Kibaki's Daughter Appointed To Head State Corporation

Retired President Mwai Kibaki's daughter and two ex-governors are the latest beneficiaries in the appointments to state jobs announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The head of state has picked a number of Jubilee party candidates floored in the August 8 general elections to head various state corporations.

Ms Judith Wanjiku Kibaki is to serve as a board member of the Kenya Investment Authority.

Also among the appointees is retired general Julius Karangi and unionist Mudzo Nzili. Mr Nzili will now serve as a Non-executive member of the National Irrigation Board.

The president has also announced the approval of the appointment of Charles Owino Oyugi to the board of directors at the South Nyanza Sugar company.

In the Gazette notice No.5569 dated June 5, 2018,  Suleiman Shabhal has been picked to join the Kenya Trade Network Agency for three years.

Shabhal was Jubilee party's candidate for the Mombasa Gubernatorial race but lost to ODM's Governor Hassan Joho.

Former Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi has also been picked. Mr Cheboi will now serve in the Agriculture Development Corporation Board until 2022. He lost his seat after being defeated in the Jubilee party primaries to Stanley Kiptis last year.

The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Board will now have former Isiolo Governor Godana Doyo as its board non-executive chairperson. 

Godana who sought to retain his seat on the Party for Development Reforms ticket lost to the incumbent Governor Mohamed Kuti who contested as an independent candidate.

Retired Kenya Defence Forces General Karangi has been appointed as trustee to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). Karangi will take over from Gideon Ndambuki as the NSSF board non-executive chairperson.

The changes are part of 106 changes made to the management of state corporations.

Migori Politician Ochilo Ayako is among politicians who have also been listed for possible appointment to the Salaries and Remunerations Commission. People's Democratic Party leader Omingo Magara had applied to join SRC but was dropped from 81 other applicants.
