Man Narrates How He Escaped Death From Crash of FlySax Plane

A man has divulged how he narrowly escaped death from the ill-fated Cessna C208 FlySax airplane.

According to Peter Mwangale, a 68-year-old businessman, he was able to escape death after he canceled his flight to Nairobi at the last minute.

He mentioned that he was to board the plane in Kitale at midday but called off his trip after he was told that the journey would be delayed until late in the afternoon.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Mwangale noted: "I got to the airport at 11:30 am prepared to travel but was told that the flight had been rescheduled to 2 pm.

"When it got to 3 pm, they told us that the flight would leave at 4 pm yet we already had our boarding passes," the Bungoma resident revealed.

Mwangale exclaimed that he followed his instincts and decided not to travel since the weather was not favourable.

He then added that he asked the FlySax team to hand him back the luggage that had already been checked in.

He further stated that it was until he got back to his house that he learnt of the missing plane.

Unfortunately, by the time the plane was located on Thursday morning, all the passengers and the two pilots had succumbed to the crash.

On Thursday, President Uhuru Kenyatta mourned the victims, assured the families of government's support adding that relevant authorities will ensure those investigations are carried out swiftly.

"They will have every assistance my administration can offer, now and in the days to come," the President announced.
