DP Ruto's Infamous Remark On Chinese Contractor in Kwale

Deputy President William Ruto, on Monday, while delivering several goodies for the coast region tickled residents with his description of a Chinese Contractor handling his flagship project.

The DP spoke during the start of the construction works on a 70 kilometres road to be built from Kidimu to Lunga Lunga through Shimoni, Majorini and Vanga town.

He referred to the Chinese contractor in a few seconds aspersion when he announced that he will be charged with building the road in Kwale County.

“We told you about this road (mentions the towns) and today we have come to start the work. We have set aside Sh3.2 billion for the project,” he announced amid cheers from the crowd.

He went on to state: “Na mimi nataka mjue kwamba contractor huyu mtu wa macho madogo madogo, Chinese ndiye atafanya hiyo kazi (I want you to know that the contractor, this tiny-eyed Chinese is the one to do this job).”

The deputy president has in recent days launched a charm offensive at the coast sending shivers to the opposition’s ODM party as elected leaders in the area endorse him for his 2022 presidential bid.

The party had warned MPs in the area against supporting him lest they face disciplinary action through a statement released by its secretary general Edwin Sifuna.

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has in the recent trip by the DP earned a new name for drumming up support for him at the coast.

Local leaders have labeled Jumwa as ‘Mama Radar’ barely few months after she declared support for the deputy president who often puts politicians on the alert by saying “lazima ukae radar (you must be keen).
