Armed Robbers Invade Raila’s Home in Bondo

On Sunday night, armed robbers invaded NASA leader Raila Odinga's homestead at Opoda farm in Bondo, Siaya County stealing livestock.

Reports indicate the thugs gained access to the heavily guarded farm by cutting the fence, they then harassed the guards on the night shift before making away with sheep, goats and geese.

The guards recorded their statements on Monday at Bondo Police Station.

Siaya DCIO Samwel Cheruiyot affirmed the incident and indicated that investigations into the case were underway.

He also revealed that no suspect had been arrested by the time the story went public.

The County Commissioner Joseph Narengo hinted that they were interrogating the farm workers whom they suspected to have colluded with the robbers.

“Geese cannot be easily handled by strangers. We will soon establish who among the workers was involved in the robbery,” he was quoted by People Daily.

He further mentioned that the ranch is also guarded by Recce Squad officers who were manning the main house when the incident transpired.

Sources disclosed that the Raila family had fired all the casual workers and security guards for fear that the incident was an inside job.

The NASA leader hired private guards to secure the farm in September 2017 after the National Police Service withdrew the officers it had posted there.
