Raila Meets With Luo Council of Elders

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga on Monday met with the Luo Council of Elders where he gave a way forward for the community.

Speaking to journalists at his Opoda farm in Bondo, Raila stated that the elders had agreed to put aside their differences and focus on pushing for development in the region.

"We have held a very healthy discussion where the elders have agreed that they will speak for the community with one voice. We are determined to promote unity," he conveyed.

He added that the elders would embark on a mission to promote their culture and maintain their traditions, especially among the youth.

Raila stated that they would hold seminars, workshops and seminars noting: "They will look at the cultural practices that need to be reformed and those that need to be retained."

The Opposition leader further divulged that the elders would hold consultations with elders from other communities across the country.

Earlier on Saturday, Raila addressed the issue of leaving the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition.

Addressing mourners during the burial of Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito’s mother, Regina Mmbayi at Shinyalu, Raila urged his supporters to trust his decision to call for a truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

 “You must play politics using your brains, I am preparing the way for us to take over the government in 2022.

“People should stop calling me a traitor over the handshake, I have no intentions of leaving NASA,” he affirmed.
