Warning Issued Against Alcoholic Beverages From Lyniber Supplies Limited

The Nairobi City Council Alcoholic Control and Licensing Board has warned members of public from taking alcohol distributed by Lyniber Supplies limited.

According to the board chairman Kennedy Odhiambo, the plant which is located in Embakasi West is notorious for distributing illicit alcohol in the Mt Kenya region and Lower Eastern.

The operation by the board unearthed that the dealer avoided the standardization mark of quality by Kenya Bureau Of Standards (KEBS) thus evading taxation.

Odhiambo revealed that the management of the plant was working in cohorts with some Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers who authenticated the illicit liquor for distribution.

“As you have witnessed the KRA officer has authenticated the illicit alcohol and issued the original stickers,” he indicated.

The Inspection Committee Chairman also noted that the plant, which has been involved in numerous cases was operating without a license.

The county officers also nabbed six workers and a laboratory technician who were manually cleaning recycled bottles.

According to the technician, they collect the used alcohol bottles which they later use to refill with the chemically produced spirits.

Some of the alcohol bottles and labels confiscated in the operation are Richot, Kibao, Kenya Cane, Napoleon and Viceroy.

The officers also found sachets of coffee spirits imported from Tanzania.
