DP Ruto Reveals Where He Has Been Investing Heavily

Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday revealed that his frequent contributions to church fundraising are part of his "investment in heaven".

Telling off the critics who have questioned the source of his huge contributions amidst the calls for the lifestyle audit.

Speaking at St Benedict Catholic Church in Ngoingwa, Thika, the DP lashed back: "Wengine wananikashifu eti huyu anazunguka kwenye makanisa, eti ninatoa pesa pale na pale, sijui nini… Shauri yao (Some are criticising me that I have been moving around various churches making donations, that should not bother me)."

"Mimi ninainvest kwa mambo ya mbinguni. Wewe ukitaka kuinvest mahali pengine… si kila mtu ako na uhuru wa kuinvest pahali anataka? (I am investing in heaven. If you wish to invest elsewhere so be it. Everyone has a choice on their investment priority)," the DP quipped.

His remarks appeared to be an indirect response to NASA leader Raila Odinga who had asked him to stop engaging in the 2022 campaigns and instead concentrate on his duties as the Deputy President.

"Wacha kurandaranda hapa na pale, kutangatanga ati wewe utakuwa rais mwaka 2022 (Stop moving around asserting that you will be the President come 2022)," Raila had castigated Ruto.

Cautioning the DP against the perceived early campaigns, Raila posed: "How do you know that you will be President?" It's Kenyans who elect their President. Then you dish out money here and there and then say 'we do a lifestyle audit'."

But justifying his contributions towards Church development, the DP opined: "This is a good thing. No leader succeeds without the prophets. The President and I will not slow down on the development agenda."
