President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday announced that Kenya will open two consulates in Guangzhou and Shanghai.
Speaking during his meeting with Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Chairman Wang Yang in State House, the Head of State noted that the new consulates will facilitate interaction between the people of the two countries.
"I intend to establish Consulate Generals in Guangzhou and Shanghai to facilitate the growing interaction between our peoples," President Kenyatta stated.

Uhuru affirmed that he is satisfied with the tremendous progress achieved in the bilateral cooperation between the two countries over the past decade through continued partnership.
Additionally, the Head of State mentioned that since December 2015, Kenya has received 13 grant projects worth Ksh10.2billion, four preferential loans projects worth Ksh29 Billion, 14 commercial projects worth Ksh854.5 Billion and cumulative investment projects amounting Ksh 56 Billion.
"During the same period, over 2000 Kenyans benefited from academic scholarships and professional courses ranging from short to long-term sponsored by the Government of the People’s Republic of China," President Uhuru highlighted.
The President further lauded China for offering to aid in organisation of the High-Level Sustainable Blue Economy Conference scheduled to take place at Kenyatta International Conference Center in Nairobi from November 26 to 28, 2018.
"It would indeed be my pleasure if China could join other countries that have indicated interest to co-host the conference," he mentioned.
Reiterating Uhuru's statements, Wang noted that his visit was aimed at demonstrating positive assessment and recognition of the fruitful outcome of Kenya and China cooperation.
"I want to use this visit as an opportunity to further strengthen Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Kenya’s Senate, National Assembly and other Institutions," stated Mr Wang.
