Musalia Mudavadi Supports Uhuru in Fight Against Corruption

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi on Tuesday declared his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the fight against corruption.

Mudavadi commended the president for his initiative in curbing the menace while urging leaders to back the president's push.

He further advised the president to be strict about punitive measures against officials who are found to be corrupt and not offer them a second chance in government.

"I encourage the government to pursue the corrupt with unmitigated zeal. On this front, I commend Uhuru for leading from the front.

"He must take no prisoners. The war on corruption must be fought relentlessly to offset the gushing and torrid revelations of looting public coffers," he told reporters.

The Opposition leader noted that any weak-handed efforts to curb the menace would only serve to worsen the situation.

"What remains when a country is run down? Only poverty, pestilence, desperation and conflict.

"No country has survived a run on its sovereign wealth by pirates," he stated.

Mudavadi also commended Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on his ongoing crackdown on counterfeit goods in Kenya.

"The war in counterfeits must be fought as roughly as the battle against public coffer looters," he urged.
