Speaking to the Standard, the EACC detectives mentioned that they are looking for more suspects behind the scam and would give full information later.

According to the legislator's brother Charles Arama, the MP is being interrogated by the EACC detectives and the police.

His brother further divulged that the lawmaker is currently being held at the Railways Police Station, Nakuru.

It is reported that supporters of the MP and members of his family have gathered outside the police station demanding for his release.

Condemning the arrest, Nakuru County Jubilee secretary-general, Mr Peter Cheruiyot, stated that the police have not given reasons for Mr Arama’s arrest and are "holding him in a station full of mosquitoes."

His arrest comes two days after he got a reprieve after his competitor in the 2017 General Election withdrew a petition against his win.

Dr Andrew Isoe Ochoki, who vied on an ODM ticket, had filed an appeal against a verdict issued by the High Court in Nakuru that upheld the victory of Mr Arama.
