Facebook is working on a time usage dashboard that will now allow the app’s users to know the time they spend online.
The feature, ‘Your time on Facebook’, will show the time spent on the app for a period of 7 days and the average daily time.
The tool which is being developed to help curb online addiction will allow users to set time limits on the app and accompanying alarms for the limits.

The alarms will notify netizens when their self-imposed daily time limits are over.
Exhausting the time limit set a user will risk getting locked out of the social media platform until the following day.
The new feature was discovered by developer Jane Manchun Wong who noted that the tool is hidden in the unreleased update of Facebook android’s app.
The self-policing feature will also help users to be mindful of the time spent online.
However, the feature cannot be accessed by those using the platform via web browsers.
Through the developer, Facebook indicated that it is always working towards ensuring that people’s time on Facebook is well spent in meaningful interactions.
Instagram is also working on ‘usage insights’ that will allow 'instagramers' to know the time they spend on the app.
Facebook joins tech giant, Apple which already has the said feature aimed at promoting digital health among user.
