Betty Kyallo Reveals Why she Underwent Surgery

KTN news anchor Betty Kyallo revealed why she underwent surgery at Nairobi Hospital.

The news anchor posted on her Instagram account that doctors had to remove her tonsils hence the minor operation was done.

Betty disclosed that she had struggled with a condition known as tonsillitis inflammation and had lacked the courage to undergo surgery.

"Happy to be home after a successful surgery to remove my tonsils. Finally did it after being scared to do so after many years yet I kept suffering from tonsillitis inflammation almost every month," the KTN news anchor stated.

"Thanks to God for a successful procedure. Big thanks to my fantastic doctor, all my friends and family who were right by my side and the amazing team at Nairobi Hospital. Blessings to you," Betty added.

She also disclosed that the recovery process was not easy but she was hopeful for a quick and complete recovery.

"I'm looking forward to better days. Happy dance, now to the hardest part which is eating and talking... but that Special ice cream diet so far is dope," Ms Kyallo told her followers on Instagram.

The anchor's condition happens when tonsils which act as filters to trap germs that could otherwise enter your airways and cause infection to become infected.

When they become overwhelmed by bacteria or viruses, tonsils swell and become inflamed, and that condition is known as tonsillitis.

According to medics, tonsils are an important part of the immune system throughout life, and it is best to avoid removing them.

However, if tonsillitis is recurrent or persistent, or if they are enlarged tonsils cause difficulty when eating, surgical removal of the tonsils, called tonsillectomy, may be necessary.
