DP Ruto Attends Marsabit-Lake Festival Turkana in Loyiangalani, Marsabit County

Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday attended the Marsabit-Lake festival Turkana in Loyiangalani, Marsabit County where he partook in the celebrations by donning the traditional wear.

He also engaged in cultural dances stating that: "Our vibrant culture is a source of pride, a tool for younger generations to learn, identity with traditions and a rich immersive experience.

"We require an aggressive, broad approach to promote cultural tourism, celebrate our heritage and build a repository of knowledge to benefit posterity."

A section of Kenyans took to social media to commend the DP for showing up for the cultural festivities.

"Culture gives us a sense of belonging and roots our traditions for generations to come. Thank you for gracing this occasion DP I salute you," one user wrote.

"Amazing, spiritually, life is a festival, a celebration. Joy is of the essence of life. Happy to see you your excellence DP William. Our commitment is the implementation of Jubilee manifesto and realisation of the Big four action plan," another wrote.

"A county Rich in Culture! We need good leadership to tap this from other counties. God bless Kenya!" one Kenyan noted.

Speaking during the event, the DP stated that the administration was solely focussed on achieving the Big 4.

"Mimi nitahakikisha kwamba nimetekeleza wajibu wangu kama naibu wa rais, kumsaidia rais kutekeleza manifesto ya Jubilee, ili wananchi wajue walichagua serikali ya 'kusema na kutenda' which loosely translate to I will make sure I perform my duties as the Deputy which entails assisting the President in fulfilling his promises to the Kenyan people," he assured.

He added that the government had set aside Kshs.400 Million to assist women who make beads by investing in their businesses to make them more profitable.

He further promised that the government would reduce the fees for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) from Kshs 90,000 to Kshs50,000.
