"Scandal" Star Tony Goldwyn (Fitzgerald Grant) Meets KFCB Boss Ezekiel Mutua in Kenya

Hollywood star Tony Goldwyn who plays President Fitzgerald Grant on American series Scandal on Monday met with Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua.

A statement from Dr Mutua explained that the accomplished actor, producer and director was in the country to deliberate on making a movie of the love story of Kenyan couple Kennedy and Jessica Odede.

"We are delighted to have celebrated Hollywood film actor, director and producer Tony Goldwyn as well as the veteran scriptwriter and film professor Jamal Joseph in the country.

"Tony and Jamal are in the country courtesy of Kennedy and Jessica Odede whose love story as captured in the New York best seller Find Me Unafraid has attracted the attention of the American film producers and will be subject for discussions for possible translation into a movie.

"Many of you will recall the thrilling love story of Kennedy - the slum boy from Kibera who married an American girl, Jessica Posner from Denver and are doing great humanitarian work in the sprawling slums of Kibera here in Nairobi," the statement read in part.

The statement went on to outline the accolades of the star actor and his entourage while hinting at the positive impact of the visit.

"Jessica and Kennedy's story rekindles fond memories of the great American/Kenya connection through former United States President Barack Obama.

"Kenya is the ancestral home of President Obama and indeed will be honoured to have the former US President visit us in a few days' time en route to South Africa for the Nelson Mandela memorial service," the statement read.

Dr Mutua went on to describe various other Kenyans who have put the country on the map including Oscar Award Winner Lupita Nyong'o, David Rudisha and various other sports personalities.

The KFCB boss also stated that the government would consider partnering with Goldwyn, his production team and the Odede's to facilitate the shooting of the Find Me Unafraid film in Kenya.
