ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna Exposes DP William Ruto Over Donations

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has continued the party's questioning of the source of Deputy President William Ruto continued hefty investment in church donations.

Speaking on KTN News, Sifuna revealed: "I have just seen a report somewhere, that just in the past two days alone, the DP has been at harambees where he has contributed a total of Ksh20 million over the period of two days.

Questioning the sources of the funds for what the DP called "investment in heaven", Sifuna indicated that "like Kenyans who are filing tax returns, we want him to show us his tax returns".

Sifuna went ahead to question: "How can somebody who is responsible for a country that is failing, be doing so well in his private business?

"How comes that this business acumen cannot be translated into the country so that we all prosper? And when you ask, you are told that he is an astood businessman," Sifuna quipped.

Weighing in on the recent opposition by some Jubilee leaders on the lifestyle audit directive including by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, Sifuna opined that only the guilty ones would be afraid of the process.

"If you have made corruption your lifestyle, then when the war against corruption begins, it will be about you," Sifuna concluded.

Elsewhere, Kenyans on social media have castigated churches and religious leaders over allegedly condoning corruption by receiving donations suspected to be proceeds of the ongoing graft.

In particular, netizens drew irony on the recent suspension of rapping priest Father Paul Ogallo by the Catholic Church leadership in Kenya yet continue receiving huge and "questionable" donations from politicians.

Here are some of the reactions:

Couples of Sunday our Pasi announced in church someone wired 7million to church account in one transaction
Inner Me: NYS! NYS!
Outer Me : Wau! God's loves a cheerful giver

Rappers corrupt the youth, you see. Their values are inconsistent with the values we want to spread, you know? They lead them away from where we want them to go.

They would rather receive corruption money from political thugs than have rappers who preach Jesus Christ. Modern day Pharisees.

Hehe you're complaining about the 20M Ruto donated yet I know one church he donated 100M.

Father Ogalo has to "choose between being a rapper and a priest", the sacred and the secular cannot not mix. pic.twitter.com/aLMDR5EHV3
