There was drama in Juja town after an armed gang that was trying to rob a lone man had the tables turned on them and one killed by their target.

The incident which took place on Thursday night occurred when the gang fresh of hijacking a matatu met the man who was walking home from a local butchery.

Police disclosed that the gang alighted the matatu at Kimbo and headed toward Matangi-ini road.

As they were escaping, they decided to waylay the unidentified man - little did they know that he was a licensed firearm holder which he was carrying at the time.

According to police, the gang tried to rob the man at gunpoint when he (the man) took out his gun and before the gang could respond, he shot killing one member on the spot.

Two others were injured as the man opened fire at them. The rest of the gang fled for their lives opting to leave their injured fellows behind.

The authorities believe that the thug who was killed was the leader of the gang who robbed passengers earlier that evening.

Cases of victims killing thugs are rarely reported in Nairobi.

Earlier in February, a daring man killed one robber and seriously injured 6 others who tried to attack his residence at Karen.

The heavily armed gang of seven stormed the man's residence at around 1 am when the host was seeing off visitors.
