Meru Leaders Call on DP Ruto to Choose CS Peter Munya as His Deputy for 2022 Polls

Deputy President William Ruto has been given an ultimatum by leaders from the Meru community ahead of his 2022 presidential aspirations. 

Speaking during a fundraising, Tigania East MP Gichunge Kabeabea stated that the Deputy President ought to pick the current East African Community Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya as his deputy and in return, they would offer him their support.

"In 2022, we will support him for 2022 but on condition, he picks Munya to be his deputy. We want Munya as his Deputy because Meru community has never had a higher national leadership post of that caliber," the legislator mentioned.

Kabeabea, who was accompanied with a section of Meru leaders, affirmed that Mr Munya is equal to the task and development initiatives as MP and governor have shown how capable he is to hold a bigger political seat.

Additionally, he stated that the DP will win the elections as he is a stronger candidate compared to Opposition leader Raila Odinga and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

"I deduct marks from Gideon Moi being President, first he is weak politically, unpopular, he does not know the real needs of common Mwananchi," Kabeabea exclaimed. 

Maara MP reiterated his sentiments stating that 2022 is an opportunity for Ruto to appreciate the loyalty of the region to the Jubilee party through the allocation of the deputy president's slot.

Additionally, speaking on the DP's 2022 aspirations Meru Senator Mithika Linturi noted that the Meru and Embu communities can boasts of more than 1.5 million votes and are well placed to ensure Ruto beats his opponent in the 2022 polls. 

"It is logical for us to demand the topmost senior position in our country's leadership because we have significant votes to bring in the winning basket, " Linturi concluded.

DP Ruto has recently been dismissing claims that he is transversing the country politicking in preparation of 2022 elections.
