Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has cleared the air on the controversial World Cup trip after photos of her having a good time in Russia surfaced.
Senator Omanga has now revealed that she sponsored her travel to the FIFA event and not taxpayers money as alleged by various media reports.
According to Omanga, the Russian trip is not at the taxpayers' expense but a self-sponsored adventure which she has been undertaking every four years since 2002 when she was aged 20 years.

"I am in Russia through personal sponsorship. I love football and have been going for the World Cup since 2002 when it was in Japan," the lawmaker stated.
The Senator further indicated that she is already planning her next adventure during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
"I am actually very surprised about all this debate. I save for it. In the next four years, we have the World Cup in Qatar and I will start saving for it," she concluded.
Her statement comes hours after the speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi defended the government-funded trip by the MPs which has caused public uproar.
Muturi termed the trip as a "benchmarking exercise by members of the parliamentary Sports and Culture Committee and Bunge FC - the parliament football team.
On his part, Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Achesa has defended the sponsorship of the legislators to Moscow indicating that it will help them understand "how to organise such big events".

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja who was expected to be part of the delegation to Russia opted out to address issues in Nairobi including the previous riots by hawkers and Kamukunji Business Community.
