DP William Ruto Impresses While Singing Kikuyu Song [VIDEO]

Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday endeared himself to Murang'a leaders by remarkably singing a popular Kikuyu gospel song.

The DP who was meeting with the clergy and other leaders from Muranga County at his Karen home took to the podium to address the gathering.

But when the religious leaders started off the hymn "Nginyukagia o kahora (I take my [spiritual] journey one step at a time)" the DP did not disappoint but impressively joined in the singing.

The lyrics of the hymn "Ndikahotwo niutenderu, kana irima rugendoini (My journey will never be hampered by the slippery roads nor the mountainous terrain) seemed to resonate with the DP as he heartily sang out the song.

Although the DP appeared to occasionally glance down as if reading a musical sheet, he nevertheless seemed to be well acquainted with the song especially the chorus "Niwega Ngai mundongoria (Thank you God my guide).

Following the meeting, the DP sent out a message indicating that "Christianity offers a strong foundation in which all other things stand.

"Prayer is a powerful tool that makes the impossible possible. We must live in prayer to unite the country and foster peace," Ruto added.

The meeting comes a few days after the Deputy President vowed to continue supporting the church and other religious activities despite the heavy criticism that he has received in the past.

Speaking at AIPCA Kayole on Sunday, the DP quipped: "Some people have been criticising my frequent church attendance. But if you investigate these people very well, they use their money at night."

"They take their money to witchdoctors at night, but we take our money to church during the day for the work of God," the DP shut off critics who have in past questioned the source of his huge church donations.
